Featuring compositions by three great British composer/performers: Barry Guy, Fred Frith, and Lindsay Cooper as well as one piece by Rova’s Larry Ochs. Barry Guy is the great bassist and leader of the London Jazz Composers Orchestra. Fred Frith is known the world over for his great guitar work in groups such as Keep the Dog, Material, Naked City and The Art Bears. Lindsay Cooper plays in all genres and composes 2 beautiful works here for Rova. From “Avant Magazine: The sixty-eight minute journey as guided by the four horns of the apocalypse begins with Lindsay Cooper’s ‘Face in the Crowd’ unfolding a musical experience wholly and uniquely Lindsay Cooper. This climaxes with an extended multi-horn chord that must be heard to be believed. Coopers’ “Can of Worms” is no less magnificent and both are worth the price of admission. This view is not to diminish the quality of the other compositions for they too offer much for your attention and appreciation.”
