These performances originally issued on Debut records by mark the first recorded efforts by Hugh Steinmetz (tpt) who later went on to form the Contemporary Jazz Quartet, an ensemble which pioneered the European Avant Garde movement of the late 60's. Steinmetz is joined here by Karsten Vogel (alto sax), Neils Harrit (ts, flute),Per Aage Brandt (piano), Steffen Andersen (bass), and Bo Thrige Andersen (drums) in the performance of 13 original compositions.
