| Chris Kelsey (Cadence Magazine, USA '97) about the CD 'Trad Corrosion'
" A series of beautifully crafted free jazz miniatures - partly composed, largely improvised - by a trio of intelligent and sensitive improvisers. Ullmann, Willers and Haynes willfully supress their more raucous instincts attempting to attain a level of heightened intensity without playing loud. That they succeed so well is a valuable lesson that's gone unlearned by many a lesser set of jazz musicians ...
Ullmann is equally strong on all his axes. His sound is subtly layered his technique firm his ideas cogent. Willers style is well-rounded; especially attractive is his classical guitar work where we can hear his fine touch most clearly ... the group dynamic is superb... the recorded sound is excellent ... I have no compunctions about praising this cd in the strongest terms." |
