12" Vinyl Edition

Pretty (Tokyo) Eyes

Contemplation

Album CONTEMPLATION is a nice combination (and right proportion) of live playing and use of samples. On this album you will find selection of Jazz inspired club tracks with a touch of Hip-Hop. Highlights would be excellent versions of Horace Silver’s ‘Tokyo Blues’ (Pretty Tokyo Eyes) and Nat Adderley’s ‘Jive Samba’. Both aimed for the dance floors. My favourite would be ‘Contemplation’, Downtempo tune with a strong modal feeling. Also recomended is Baion Baby.

DUSTY GROOVE AMERICA
Groovy club jazz -- with modern twists, but a very classic groove! The album was recorded live in Belgrade by this underground quartet -- and it features live work on vibes, tenor, guitar, and turntables, over rhythm tracks with a stretched-out jazzy groove that's kind of in the Compost Records mode. The whole thing's similar to other work on the Cosmic Sounds label -- with one foot in that older trippy Eastern Europe jazz funk mode, and the other firmly planted in a world of new crossover jazz traditions.

ARTISTS
Dusan Petrovic (tenor sax); Boris Mladenovic (guitar, programing); DJ Munja (DJ); Boris Bunjac (vibes)
