| The newest members of the high rated Brambus-Jazz-Family are coming from the Swiss capital Bern, but bandleader Markus Grassl has German and Indian roots as well. The trio unites the fun of playing jazz with modern grooves and contemporary sounds, without using any technical support. The album contains only original compositions from guitarist Markus Grassl, in which unusual chordvoicings unit with lines full of virtuosity in a unique sound. The guitarplayer‘s aim is to surprise and he does it often with sounds and technique, phrases of rock are combined with lines of jazz, but without falling into steril clichees of fusion music. Markus Grassl has won several international competitions, main one to mention from the magazine „Gitarre & Bass“ in august 1999 in Germany. On these recordings he works with his trio, which was founded in 1996. The other members are the creative drumer Sebastian Berger and the reknown bass player Joel Kaiser. The trio creates a unique music between jazz, rock and ambient, which grows to a melancholic and estethic blend. A music, which is also ready for less „jazz used“ ears. The CD varies from other well done production by the fact, that is has not been overproduced, but being recorded live and direct to guarantee a maximum on im-provisation and spontanity in between a given range of possibilities. This is a great and time-less recording, which deserves international attention and should bring the MARKUS GRASSL TRIO in a front line of the scene! |
