| Benny More epitomized the big-band Afro-Cuban sound of the 1950s, and became a national icon with his broad range of material and his knack for catchy, pop-influenced songs that were nonetheless entirely original. He could capture the wistful nostalgia of lost love with aplomb in his romantic boleros, while his mambos and rumbas remain irresistibly danceable. The manifestation of a rags-to-riches triumph, More's humble beginnings as a farmer palpably informed his later music in its complexity, emotion, and the dynamic combination of Afro-Cuban music with indigenous Cuban music of Spanish origin known as "guajiro music." This insightful documentary explores the life and legend of Benny More, tracing his path from the farm to his debut in the Matamoros group, and continuing to his exile in Mexico, subsequent return to Cuba, and tragic early death in Havana. Vibrant concert footage features More performing many of his most-loved tunes, including: "Oh Vida," "Santa Isabel De Las Lajas," Como Fue," "Batanga No. 2," "Que Te Hace Pensar," "Hoy Como Ayer," "Mata Siguaraya," Te Quedaras, "Preferi Perderte," "Qu Bueno Baila Usted," "La Vida Es Un Sueno," and "Mexicanita Veracruzana," among others.
