Personnel are some of the most highly recognized performers in Jazz, and among the select group of distinguished recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts American Jazz Masters Award. In the June 2002 Village Voice Feature Jazz Supplement entitled "Post-War Jazz: An Arbitrary Road Map," notorious Jazz writer Gary Giddins chose Hank Jones' version of 'Oh, What A Beautiful Morning' from this recording as the single most noteworthy recorded jazz performance of 1977: "a neglected masterpiece-his quintessential performance... Jones dives deep into its harmonies for a series of blues-driven variations that are infernally clever and utterly lovely."
