| The Lost Trio was formed in 1994 by Phillip Greenlief, Dan Seamans & Tom Hassett and stepped into existence with a steady every Thursday night gig at The Rose Pistola in the North Beach district of San Francisco. The gig lasted nearly two years, and was followed by a steady Sunday gig at Cato's Ale House in Oakland that lasted for nearly four years. The Lost Trio has history of touring that has mainly focused on the west coast, (Los Angeles to Seattle), where they have also enjoyed many live radio appearances and in-store performances.
The Lost Trio recorded its first CD, Remembrance of Songs Past, in 1994 and the disc was released in 1995, earning a "Pick of the Month" (December 1995) in All About Jazz Magazine while also receiving glowing reviews from numerous other publications.
The Lost Trio's second disc with guest guitarist Adam Levy was listed as #1 Jazz Recording of 2000 in the San Jose Mercury News, and was listed on two other Top 10 Recordings lists in the East Bay Express and the San Francisco Chronicle.
The group's newest recording, "Boxcar Samovar" (2004) continues to feature the group's nearly-surreal repertoire, careening recklessly from Hank Williams to Billy Strayhorn, Radiohead and the Grateful Dead to Thelonious Monk, Bob Dylan, Carla Bley, or film composers Nino Rota, Angelo Badalamente and Giovanni Fusco. |
