First Ones

Here we have the fifth edition of Positive Knowledge that always contains Oluyemi and his wife Ijeoma Thomas, sometimes just a duo or a trio or a quartet. The same spirit is always present. It is rare to find someone who is featured mostly on bass clarinet, but this Oluyemi's special gift. To speak through his horns, the C-melody sax is another rarely used instrument, but there he goes wailing on that horn. Ijeoma is a perfect match for Oluyemi, her voice is extremely expressive, they both tell stories together, weaving magically around one another. The sound of two bass clarinets or bass clarinet and soprano sax spiraling together is something else. I am not familiar with their percussionist, Spirit, but he also sounds wonderful spinning his web of wonder as well. This music often unfolds slowly, so we get a chance to hear and to feel all that they are telling us. This is truly organic music that flows from the heart, soul and minds of the Positive Knowledge crew. Open up and let them in. You will not be disappointed, unless you are already dead.
