Steve Lacy, soprano sax; Irene Aebi, voice. Recorded June 8, 1995 in Barcelona. A two part performance: in the first part Steve Lacy plays solo Thelonious Monk pieces and in the second part Irene Aebi sings poems of Kurt Schwitters, Herman Melville, Phillippe Soupault, Francis Picabia, Giulia Niccolai and Robert Creeley, with Steve Lacy playing his own compositions to accompany the poems. This recording captures the opening concert of the 1995 Nits de Musica series in its entirety without overdubs or additions. The CD includes a booklet containing the full text of the poems as well as an interview with Aebi and Lacy which first appeared in Hambone magazine in Winter ’98.
