Gil Evans and Steve Lacy return to the past, and give new performances of standards with some magnificent improvisations. The recording took place in Paris in December, 1987. Gil Evans died of pneumonia on March 20, 1988 in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where Charles Mingus also died, in 1979. |
