| Witnessing was number 14 in readers' voting for the best record of the year in the Japanese jazz magazine Swing Journal.
Jansson's music is apparently simple. At a closer study it shows to be both harmonically elegant and very personal. Lars also has a remarkable feeling for melodic beauty.
The trio's playing together is like a telepathic trapeze act. Lars Jansson's grand piano sound is crystally clear, with harmony and playful improvisations of a master. It feels as if the music finds him and the joy he feels about that he shares with us. My favorites are 'Success-Failure', Just Being and Fred, where Jansson's sparkling piano is eminently lifted by Lars Danielsson's irresistibly driving bass and Anders Kjellberg's vigorously pulsing drums." |
