The result on this cd is a jazz album with a capitol J. This music smells, feels and sounds of jazz. Everyone goes all the way and every which way. The two bandleaders contribute tunes, there are a couple of standards, one free number, one by Martino, a ballad, and a highly unorthodox version of Kurt Weills evergreeen Mack The Knife.

No one really remembers who made the suggestion it may well have been Billy Hart who said, "Hey why don't we play Mack The Knife real slow and in minor"... And that was how the album got it's name.
