The omnipresent Benjamin Koppel is mainly known as a highly ex-troverted saxophonist, but now he shows us other sides of his musical personality with the new cd "Quietness" - a duo with pianist Steen Rasmussen, who has been Koppel's musical partner for seven years. They have almost telepathic communication in their joint exploration of moving and heart-felt ballads, melancholy songs and love themes. The music is light, thoughtful, poetic and wistful, all at once. Some of the tunes are melodious and tuneful, others verge on free improvisation.
