| The John O'Gallagher Quartet. Yet another debut by an artist with notable instrumental and compositional talents. Over a year in preparation, this session was recorded at the end of a short tour by the group and is notable for the connectedness of the 2-sax frontline and the group as a whole. With liner notes that clearly illuminate the chronology and background of the session, it's a fine companion to music that is both muscular and, at times, hauntingly beautiful.
