| The debut album from this jazz/actuelle trio playing a series of original compositions, and one piece by Bartók. Theirs is a confident and well paced music of rhythm and sax, allowing the tunes to progress at their own pace and expressing themselves clearly. Lauzier in particular is a fluid player with a clean tone and a great conversational aspect to his voice. Also a member of Ensemble en pièces, who released an excellent improv record on Ambiances Magnetiques in 2004, Lauzier has also worked with Antoine Berthiaume, appeared in several Canadian festivals and has toured throughout Canada, the US and Europe. Swiss born Kuster moved to Canada in 1990 and has been a Montreal based music since 2000. He has worked with Lauzier in other settings, along with Gods of Taste and the Yannick Rieu Acoustic Project. Miles Perkins, a young Montreal musician is quickly establishing himself with the likes of Tom Walsh, Marianne Trudel and d'Erik Hove, along with Bob Brookmeyer, Lori Freedman and Rainer Wiens. |
