In 1959, Armstrong was at the peak of his fame, touring the world with his group and in full command of his trumpet. A serious heart attack in Spoleto, Italy, in October of that same year affected his blowing capacities, but he soon resumed his career, recording his last tunes only a few weeks before his death in 1971, at the age of 70.
