| An assortment of material from different live dates on Bill Evans' 1965 tour of Europe -- recorded in October of that year with a range of different lineups and guest players! The first 2 tracks on the set were done with Alan Dawson on drums and Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen on bass -- shortish takes of "Come Rain Or Come Shine" and "Beautiful Love". These are followed by a particularly great number -- a 17 minute medley of "How Deep Is The Ocean", "Detour Ahead", and "Melancholy Baby" done with the same group, but also featuring Lee Konitz on alto sax! Other titles include 3 more from Evans, Chuck Israels, and Larry Bunker on "Nardis", "Stella By Starlight", "Someday My Prince Will Come", and "Round Midnight" -- followed by another Pedersen/Dawson session that features guest pianists Jaki Byard, Lennie Tristano, Teddy Wilson, and Earl Hines on a reading of "Blues In D" -- followed by the core trio performing "Beautiful Love" and "Come Rain Or Come Shine". |
