Glass Reflections

| In 1999, composer Philip Glass heard a movement of his third symphony played by the Cello Octet Conjunto Ibérico in Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and he was greatly impressed. Inspired by the composer's support, conductor Elias Arizcuren created an entire program of Glass works transcribed for his ensemble. The result is Orange Mountain's new CD Glass Reflections which features works from the entire range of Glass' compositional activities including the concert hall, theater, opera and film. The disc includes selections from his opera Akhnaten, his incidental music for Samuel Beckett's Company, the breathtaking third movement of the third symphony, and selections from film scores to Mishima and Joseph Conrad's The Secret Agent. |
