| This matchup works out quite well. Trombonist Frank Rosolino and tenor saxophonist Richie Kamuca make for a potent frontline and are accompanied quite ably by pianist Vince Guaraldi, bassist Monty Budwig and drummer Stan Levey. This 1957 studio session, originally put out on the long-defunct Mode label, has been reissued on CD by V.S.O.P. and is well worth picking up. Rosolino contributes three originals, Bill Holman arranged some of the ensembles and the solos are consistently enjoyable and swinging. |
