"Sun Blindness Music" is the first volume in a series of three CD's showcasing John Cale's avant-garde work from the mid to late 1960's. The opening title track is close to 43-minutes long and was performed on a Vox Continental electric organ. The piece consists of a single chord which fluctuates in volume and tone throughout its duration. Listening to this piece requires a lot of patience and appreciation. Track Two, "Summer Heat" was performed on electric guitar and consists of a repeated jagged rhythm which occasionally shifts into humming feedback. The final track "The Second Fortress" was once again performed on the Vox organ. Instead of consisting of a single chord as on the title track, this piece is a sweeping electronic soundscape. This album is not for everyone. If you're a fan of avant-garde experimental music, then this album will be right up your alley.
