| This is a SACD-Hybrid and will play in all SACD and standard CD players. Bleckmann and Monder have been performing as a duo for 12 years, but this is only their second record (Theo was featured on Monder’s latest project, Oceana, on Sunnyside, as well as having his own big band jazz disc out last year on Winter & Winter). It’s a beautiful program of improvs and originals (including three songs set to Rumi texts) plus Joni Mitchell’s “Sunny Sunday” and a psychedelic cover of “Norwegian Wood”. Theo’s unique multi-octave voice, often looped and electronically treated, and Ben’s ultra-moody acoustic/electric guitar, combined on some tracks with Satoshi Takeishi’s percussion/electronics, create a truly otherworldly atmosphere, enhanced by exquisite sonics. |
