| TOXIKUM is a unique orchestra led by the Danish drummer Stefan Pasborg and the Lithuanian saxophonist Liudas Mockunas. The two musicians have, within the last couple of years, experimented with different band constellations, and the orchestra has now taken shape as a quintet with guest appearances by the renowned French guitarist Marc Ducret.
TOXIKUM started out as 'Mockunas/Pasborg-Project' and released their highly acclaimed debut-CD in 2001. Since then, the orchestra has visited jazzfestivals and venues around Europe, including festivals like Pori Jazz Festival in Finland in 2004, Jazz d'Or in France in 2005, TryTone Jazz Festival in Nederland in 2003 and Copenhagen Jazz Festival in 2004 and 2005...
The music is a highly unorthodox mixture, that's blending expressive instrumental burnouts, beautiful ballads, filmic horror, rock backgrounds, Baltic apocalypse-hymns and transcendent bell-songs!
The repertoire is written by Stefan Pasborg and Liudas Mockunas, and arranged by all group members. A music that gives a pointing finger towards what the future generation is all about!! |
