In 1977, Inner City gather together a roster of all-star jazz players and took them into a New York Studio to recreate with modern arrangements, some of the classic Eddie Jefferson songs that have become a part of vocal jazz in our times.

"In arranging Eddie Jefferson’s re-emergence as a performer in his own right, Inner City Records has given long overdue credit to a creative and catalytic artist who for too many years remained in the shadow of other’s successes. I hope the the release of this album will help substantially to set the record straight, for if ever there was a moment when recognition was due to him for the ideas in which he pioneered, certainly as Charlie "Bird" Parker would have said, now is the time."
