Teddy Wilson is heard during a 1983 live solo set in a Danish nightclub, for the most part sticking to songs that had been part of his repertoire for decades, many of which he had recorded as a member of the Benny Goodman Quartet. While songs such as "Tea for Two," "Body and Soul," and "Sweet Georgia Brown" would seem like they would be somewhat stale to the pianist by this point in his career, he finds something fresh in each of them. Of the several medleys played by Wilson, a somewhat hurried "Lush Life" combined with the inevitable "Take the 'A' Train" (the latter song a favorite of Wilson's) proves to be the most adventurous of the lot. The veteran musician also provides some commentary between several of the tracks. Although this isn't an essential CD in Teddy Wilson's extensive discography, swing fans will find enough in the way of rewarding performances to merit its purchase.
