One of the more interesting piano trios to emerge in the early 21st century, E.S.T. is very much a co-op that features its three musicians (pianist Esbjörn Svensson, bassist Dan Berglund, and drummer Magnus Ostrom) as co-equals. They perform ten jointly composed originals on Seven Days of Falling, music that sometimes recalls Keith Jarrett but with some differences. Ostrom is often subtle but can play forcefully when it is needed. Bassist Berglund at times determines the direction of the group. E.S.T.'s music grows in interest with each listen. In addition to the ten numbers, there is a "hidden" bonus track a half-minute or so after the conclusion of "O.D.R.I.P." that features one of the musicians (probably the pianist) singing in a simple style; this selection, which also has a Svensson solo, lasts for four minutes.
