Archaic musical styles show through the pieces on this album from first to last; and on the drone and cantus firmus, AkkoSax superimpose blues, free jazz or alpine folk, adding the odd jaw harp, or reminiscences of Ireland and the Scottish Highlands. Later the blues is beamed to the Tyrolean Ziller valley, is then wedding-marched back into the remote past, and finally arrives 'Hintnobm,' up there at the back, enjoying the 'Schianwetter,' the lovely weather. This diagonal overview, from 'Vornaußn,' outside at the front, to 'Hintnuntn,' down there at the back, seen through the eyes of AkkoSax reveals hitherto unfathomed, undreamed-of spheres of our musical past and present. AkkoSax first performed in their current lineup -- Hannes Sprenger on saxophone and Siggi Haider on accordion -- in 1993. Besides their popular duo sessions, their scores for theater productions and radio plays (for authors like Felix Mitterer or Otto Grünmandl) have won them high acclaim also among theater and literature lovers. On Interluder, AkkoSax combine excerpts from earlier theater music with new compositions and improvisations to tell a great, colorful, simply fantastic new story.
