Vic Lewis had long admired Jimmy Van Heusen and had always wanted to pay tribute to the exception skills of this writer by producing a whole album of his music. Many of Jimmy’s songs have passed into the folklore of popular music, but some on this album are perhaps les well known.

For this recording, Lewis put together an all-star ensemble featuring top Los Angeles jazz musicians to perform some truly brilliant arrangements by the great Bill Holman.

The lineup of this West Coast session includes Bob Cooper (tenor saxophone), Bill Perkins (clarinet, flute, soprano, tenor and baritone saxophones), Mike Lang, Joel di Bartolo (bass) and Paul Kreibich (drums). It also showcases the fine trombone playing of Andy Martin who features on every number other than ‘I’ll Only Miss Here.’
