Vibraphonist, pianist, composer Karl Berger's "Conversations" is a fascinating collection of freely improvised duo performances featuring Berger with some of the musicians he most admires and with whom he has a decided empathy. Berger says the album "marks a new beginning" of a musical career which began some 40 years ago and which has included work with Don Cherry, Ornette Coleman, Steve Lacy, John McLaughlin, Elvin Jones and Sam Rivers.
