This CD represents one of the most original ,advanced and innovator musical project of the european jazz scene around the last years with a fresh sound and a modern style . Stylus Q is the title of Cd and also the name of a new quartet including some of the most popular european musicians . Original songs by Tino Tracanna and Giovanni Falzone . Paolino Dalla Porta and Vittorio Marinoni are probably the doublebassplayer and the drummer with whom everyone would play in Italy at this time . This fact can give us a complete imagine of the power of the band. This record is really great for the beauty of the compositions, the interplay and the original style and is an excellent example to know the value and the force of recent italian jazz.

It is made up of contrasting elements : complex writing at times condensed down the bone, outlined inprovisational structures, or structures that are disquietingly free, two breaths chasing each other, which together sing but also dare each other in their rasping, fertile pastures of improvisation devoid of the comfort of a harmonic instrument, rhythmics traveling as one , or that dissect an intricate polythythm.

There are unexpected directions as they are not coded. And then the cheering, releasing and at times tough conquest of a new landscape, a new reality.

ARTISTS
Tino Tracanna (tenor sax, soprano sax); Paolino Dalla Porta (double bass); Giovanni Falzone (trumpet); Vittorio Marinoni (drums)
