A unique blend of postmodern jazz, world fusion, and rock featuring stirring, bewitching Afro-Celtic vocals and brilliant high energy playing from Noonan's marquee-name band. Noonan layers his elements - vocals in English, Gaelic, Wolof and Bambara, jazz-rock guitars and funky basses, shape-shifting improv viola, African rhythms, and his own intense drumming - into a dense, dreamlike sequence of song-stories. There's a wide variety of moods encompassing many styles, from skronk to prog/jamband to Frisellian twang by way of Ireland and West Africa. Instrumental and vocal sections alternate and combine in different ways, revealing more the more you listen.
Audiophile-quality recording. |
