This is great music. Spiritual, tender, exciting, raucous, and many other adjectives (add your own). Nothing in this set is below four stars, in my opinion, but so far I have given the following tunes definite five stars: Disc 1, No.1 (Spirit in the Room) Disc 2, No.3 (The Song the Robin Sings); No.4 (In Evidence); No.6 (Blue Monk Variation) Disc 3, No.5 (A Little More Tenderness) Disc 4, No.5 (Blue Monk Variation) Disc 5, No.2 (In Evidence); No.3 (Motherless Child Variation); No.4 (A Little More Tenderness) Disc 6, No.4 (Bringing It (For Dewey Redman)) Disc 7, No.1 (A Prince and the Revolution); No.3 (A Valentine in the Fog of War) I have listened to these discs mostly in my car, where I don't have the facility to rank them on iTunes, so these specific rankings thus far are based on what I remember after a car ride. Trio X continues to fascinate in the way they interpret and reinterpret standards (whether Monk, folk tunes, or the combining of two different standards--like My Funny Valentine and Edwin Starr's War, which becomes A Valentine in the Fog of War). Enjoy!
