For the first time ever on DVD, this release presents one of the very few opportunities to see the great Horace Silver on film, including an extended version of his most acclaimed composition, "Song for my Father". Another Silver tune, "Nutville", is also given an extended treatment, at this 1968 concert, recorded in Copenhagen. He is backed here by equally celebrated musicians like Bill Hardman, Bennie Maupin and Billy Cobham. Two long unavailable performances recorded for TV shows in Los Angeles in 1962 have been added to complete the program. One of them features Shelly Manne with an outstanding quintet including Conte Candoli, Richie Kamuca and Russ Freeman. Manne is well known both for his skills on the drums and asthe owner of his own jazz club. The other TV show presents Teddy Edwards, a most underrated tenor saxophonist, who worked with such important stars as the Max Roach-Clifford Brown Quintet, Earl Bostic, Jimmy Whitherspoon, Gerald Wilson, Mel Tormé and Benny Goodman. Edwards is filmed leading his own group with a repertoireconsisting solely of his own compositions. Total Time: 90 MIN. approx. - B&W / Mono - 15 tracks - Compatible with all DVD players.
