Premium audiophile vinyl pressing on 180 gram vinyl in all original packaging.
Released by Island Records in July 1970, John Barleycorn Must Die was originally intended as a post-Blind Faith solo album for Steve Winwood, that was until the recording sessions were joined by Jim Capaldi and then Chris Wood, eventually resurrecting the Traffic banner. Featuring long, jazz-rock tinged songs, with a splash of psychedelia, the album was produced by Island’s Chris Blackwell in association with Winwood and Guy Stevens. Starting with Steve Winwood’s ‘Glad’, and leading to the album’s traditional title track, Mojo reckoned the album, “shows that Traffic were capable of thoughtful, inventive and occasionally very beautiful music".
