| A group with a wonderfully flute-forward sound -- played in the lead by reedman Michel Edelin, a player we're only discovering on this album! Edelin plays standard flute, plus alto and bass flutes too -- in a trio with the great John Betsch on drums and Jean-Jacques Avenel on bass -- both players who bring a bold sense of rhythm to the record, one that really helps drive the energy of Michel's lighter-voiced solos. Steve Lehman plays alto on a few tracks in the set -- but honestly, the best interplay seems to be from the trio -- who have a sound that's personal and soulful throughout.
