This is the 50th release on the Hux label, but it's our first brand new album (as opposed to a reissue or an unearthed archive recording). Sea Of Infinity was recorded last year and confirms that Dean's playing is as sublime as ever.
Elton Dean began his professional career with Long John Baldry's Bluesology in 1967. He left that band and helped to form the Keith Tippett sextet. Between 1969-1972, Elton formed part of the now legendary Soft Machine line-up (Wyatt, Hopper, Ratledge, Dean).
Tracks 1 & 4 feature the Elton Dean Quartet, with Mark Hewins (guitar), Marcio Mattos (double bass) and Tony Bianco (drums). Track 2 is just Elton & Mark, displaying a fluidity that comes with 25 years of playing together. Elton & Mark are joined on track 3 by the American poet, Sibyl Madrigal.
Cover design and booklet notes by Elton Dean.
