Music For Children is the first in a series of quirky collections that show Zorn's compositional genius at its most eclectic. 3 short never-heard-before Naked City compositions (written at the time of Torture Garden) performed by Zorn with the scorching Boston-based band Prelapse; a 20-minute electro-acoustic excursion for 3 wind machines and 2 controlled feedback systems dedicated to Edgar Varese, and a virtuosic classical chamber piece for violin, percussion and piano brilliantly performed by the award-winning Abel-Steinberg-Winant Trio. These are framed by a poly-rhythmic etude for percussion and celeste and a charming nostalgic lullaby for music box.
