This release presents a couple of complete quartet studio sessions by the unique Sonny Criss, accompanied in both cases by outstanding pianists: Barry Harris (with whom these are his only recordings ever) and Hampton Hawes. As a bonus, we have added a six-track, single trio session taped by Harris during the same session in which the Criss tracks were recorded plus a bonus track by the trio on the 1975 session, but without Criss. Personnel : Sonny Criss,on all tracks, with (1st session) : Barry Harris (piano), Leroy Vinnegar (bass), & Lenny McBrowne (drums) - Los Angeles, March 1, 1975. 2nd session : with Hampton Hawes (piano), Monty Budwig (bass), Shelly Manne (drums) - Los Angeles, January 20, 1969.
