2-disc set.
In the latter part of the LP era, this two-fer gave listeners an excellent sampling of Gary Burton's Atlantic recordings. The innovative vibraphonist is featured in a variety of settings, including three collaborations with pianist Keith Jarrett, a trio of standards with violinist Stephane Grappelli and in a couple of expanded groups with such sidemen as guitarists Sam Brown, Jerry Hahn, Eric Gale, bassist Steve Swallow and violinist Richard Greene. Best of all is a remarkable unaccompanied solo vibes version of Jobim's "Chega de Saudade (No More Blues)" -- a true classic. |
