Continuing his long-time association with Philip Glass, this new release features pianist Dennis Russell Davies teaming with pianist Maki Namekawa in the world premiere recording of Four Movements for Two Pianos, a major work for two pianos by one of the most recognized composers of our time. The disc is enriched by Davies' performance of the six original Etudes for Piano which were written for the pianist in the mid-1990s. Rounding out the album is a solo performance by Namekawa playing three selections from Glass' Oscar(r)-nominated score to the 2002 film The Hours.
