The Jazzpar Prize CD is almost like an overview of Aldo Romano’s musical career—he has worked with, among others, Don Cherry, Keith Jarrett, Jackie McLean, Bud Powell, and Stan Getz. The CD is full of Ornette Coleman-inspired tunes, Latin American compositions, and operatic arias. The album features Mark Turner and Stefano di Battista, two of the most important saxophone players on the scene today, as well as Grammy Award-winning Danish singer Susi Hyldgaard.
