'Miss Ann's Tempo,' 'Blues For Willarene,' 'A Wee Bit O'Green,' all lines by Green, and 'Baby's Minor Lope' (by Willette) are blues of varying shades and tempos with an earthy, deep-rooted swing characteristic of each. Willette, who will be compared with Jimmy Smith, is, as both a soloist and accompanist, a propulsive force throughout, making great use of the organ''s intrinsic power and demonstrating, along with Green, that 'funk' has not yet been depelted of its resources. |
