2 CD set. The classic John Coltrane Quartet's long unavailable 1962 concert in Graz, Austria in its entirety. One of its many highlights is Coltrane's only known recording of 'Autumn Leaves'. Although the tune was part of the Miles Davis Quintet's repertoire, Trane would never record it with or without Miles, with the exception of this Graz performance.  Recorded at Stefanienaal, Graz, Austria on November 28, 1962.

1. Anton on 2/16/2013, said:

This recording is one of the best live recordings of this period (1962/63) and the current repertoire the band plays . The quartet plays at the same high energy level as for example on the live records „Live at the Village Vanguard“ or „Impressions“ and it´s another proof for how advanced they were playing (concerning melody and harmonic structures) compared to the studio recordings of that time. It also contains the quartets only known recording of „Autumn leaves“ featuring McCoy Tyner playing the head and an extended solo before Coltrane joins. Andreas Mayerhofer, Krems-Austria
