| By common critical consent, this is one of the late Woody Shaw’s best albums, featuring a minor masterpiece of trumpet improvisation: “Sippin‘ At Bells.” The recording, made in 1987, was the first to be released by IN+OUT Records. Unhappily, it proved to be Shaw’s last recording under his own name, as he died following a tragic accident in New York on March 10, 1989. |
