| Late 90s work from Art Ensemble of Chicago legend Famoudou Don Moye – an album of highly percussive tracks, recorded in tribute to the late Oscar "Bobo" Brown III! The album features Moye's Sun Percussion group – with a lineup that includes congas, djembe, chekere, timbales, and other assorted percussion – and other players on the record include Ari Brown on saxes, Herb Walker on guitar, Calvin Brunson on keyboards, and Joel Brandon on flute. There's a few snaking electronic touches that add a nice element to the set – giving it a bit of a spaced out feel on certain tracks, setting those tunes apart from others that are straight percussion. Titles include the set include "Bald Head Gerald", "For Us", "Surreal", "Treibhaus Tribal Stomp", "No Time Left", and "Missing Link". |
