On the 26 tracks on this box, Coltrane treats standards ("It's Easy to Remember"), traditional tunes ("Greensleeves"), jazz classics (Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood"), and originals with his inimitable touch. The quality of the musicianship (the set features McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones, and Eric Dolphy, among others) is impeccable. The recordings are modern marvels, and everything about the music still comes across as pure inspiration.
