A completely unprecedented pairing of bold variations on Bach’s keyboard Invention #1 with folkloric Afro-Caribbean percussion vignettes. Pianist, composer, and bandleader Greg Burk has deep credentials in mainstream and avant-garde jazz, including a five-year tenure in the Either/ Orchestra. He now lives in Rome. Percussionist Vicente Lebron is a 40-year mainstay of the Boston Latin and jazz scenes, and a core member of the Either/Orchestra. Surprising, deep, and funny—this record made Carla Bley laugh out loud, and will surely put a smile on anybody’s face Since Switched On Bach, Bach has been fair game for experimentation. This is a particularly charming and surprising riff on one of the most famous pieces in Western music. Ten tracks are beautifully recorded pure hand percussion—this album will be a sampler’s delight.
