180-gram HQ virgin vinyl.
Originally released as the Prestige 10" Dig, it was later reissued as a 12" with additional tracks. The Diggin' title comes from a later reissue, which was supposed to fall in with the 'Cookin',' 'Steamin',' 'Workin',' etc. series. This album actually has nothing to do with that later period, but it is a still a very good representation of an early Miles at his best, forging ahead with his own cool bop style. This sextet features Davis on trumpet, a young Jackie McLean on alto sax (his debut recording), Sonny Rollins on tenor sax, Walter Bishop Jr. on piano, Tommy Potter or Charles Mingus on bass and Art Blakey on drums. |
