| Benny Green’s first trio CD in ten years, performed by his working trio. A strong collection of seldom-recorded compositions, this is Green’s 15th CD as a leader. In 1993 Oscar Peterson chose Benny as the first recipient of the City of Toronto’s Glen Gould International Protégé Prize in Music. That year, Green replaced Gene Harris in Ray Brown’s Trio, working with the veteran bass player until 1997. In addition to his prior releases as a leader, Green has performed with Betty Carter, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Watson, and the Dizzy Gillespie All Stars. Has recorded with Betty Carter (including Grammy Award winner Look What I Got), Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Watson, Milt Jackson, Diana Krall, and is particularly featured in Ray Brown’s trio series of CD’s for Telarc. |
