A vocal jazz classic, Ella Swings Lightly features the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald singing jazz standards backed by the Marty Paich Dek-tette group. The stellar album includes a typical selection of standards from the era, songs from musicals like Frank Loesser's If I Were a Bell, and a famous jazz instrumental vocalization of Roy Eldridge's "Little Jazz," among others.
The album garnered Fitzgerald a 1960 Grammy award for Best Jazz Performance, Soloist and remains one of the greatest sets in her stellar catalog. Mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tapes, pressed at Pallas in Germany, housed in a gatefold jacket, and limited to 2500 copies worldwide, ORG's outstanding reissue should be in every audiophile and jazz lover's collection.
